In pursuance of its role in adding plants for environment protection, IHE college campus is covered with greenery. The lush green premise embraces a variety of seasonal and annual flowers, foliage, ornamental and medicinal plants that make the open spaces and corridors rejuvenating. These plants are grown in ground soil, pots and even on walls through vertical gardening initiative and include about eighty varieties of plants such as Dieffenbachia, Ixora, Bougainvillea, Parijata, Croton, Nerium, Plumeria, Yucca, Rose, Lily, Petunia, Mulberry, Dracaena, Coleus, Mussaenda, Syngonium, Palm and many more. Trees of Neem, Gulmohar, Ashoka, Hibiscus, Amaltasare growing in abundant numbers in the college premises. Fruit bearing plants such as Guava, Aegle, Anar, Jungle Jalebi, Tamarind, Moringa, Jamun, Amla, Lemon, Litchi are common all around the campus. Varieties of creepers comprise Madhumalti, Tecoma, Shatavari, Philodendron etc. Sixteen different species of medicinal plants like Giloy, Ashwagandha, Ajwain, Kala bansa, Vitex, Gymnema, Lemon grass, Murraya etc. are grown in herbal garden with the objective to inculcate the value of traditional knowledge of medicinal plants and their importance among young generation. Xerophytic plants such as Palm, Cycas, Juniper, Cactus and succulent species are also full- grown. During winters, flowers of Petunia, Dianthus, Dahlia, Calendula, Cinnararia, Tagetes, Barbina, Salvia, Dimorphotheca can be seen all around the campus. Plants are propagated though bulbs, seedlings, and stem cuttings especially Kashmiri rose to maintain its original variety throughout the year. To improve the soil quality, the college has developed an eco- friendly practice of developing in-house vermi-compost and organic manure that is produced using biodegradable waste generated in college. Developed vermi-compost and organic manure is used as fertilizer to nourish plants regularly. The college students are encouraged and motivated to take part in a campaign ‘Adopt a Plant’ to connect with conservation of nature. The college ensures every effort to continue the campus evergreen.
