CDF

(Connecting Dreams Foundation)

Initiated by Students Union

About CDF: Connecting Dreams Foundation (CDF) provides the youth with an opportunity to bring about a sustainable and scalable change by working along the lines of 17 Sustainable Development Goals. 

Our college signed an MOU with them in Feb 2022.

The purposes of CDF are:

Poise (The fashion Society)

Initiated by Students Union 

 Poise is the fashion Society of IHE that promotes and presents life style and fashion across national and international segments. 

Objectives:

  • Promote cross cultural fashion and life style for all sections of society.

  • Promote harmony through fashion trends

  • Represent IHE in different forums

  • Prepare students for a career in fashion and modelling

  • Develop confidence and personality

  • Develop creativity and body positivity by embracing your own style 

Activities : Participation in inter college and intra college competitions  

Tarkaas (The Music Society)

Initiated by Students Union

Tarkaas is the music society that is committed towards identifying and encouraging students with passion and talent in this area.

Objectives:

  • Participate in inter and intra-college competitions

  • Showcase their talent in events

  • Groom their capabilities in the filed of music

  • Develop love, pride and sense of achievement towards music

  • Promoting cultural synergy through music

Activities: Participation in events and competitions across universities. Solo and group singing competition, folk language competition, Open mic talent hunt, performance at annual cultural fest of IHE and other colleges, Participation in Utsave Sanskriti under Viksit Bharat Scheme. 

Eleganza (Dance Society)

Initiated by Students’ Union

Eleganza, the western dance society, founded in the year 2016, has succeeded to set its foot in the dance circuit efficiently. The society aims to train students in various Western Dance forms, like, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Waacking, Dance Hall, House and much more.

Activities: Dance competitions across different universities, Performance in annual cultural fest.

NESA (North East Students Association)

The Northeast Students Association (NESA) of IHE was established on March 1, 2024, with the intention of launching a welfare program for students from the North eastern region of India.

Objectives:

  • Provide a comfortable, safe and friendly space where North East students connect with one another, and feel at home while they are away from home. 

  • Raise awareness and improve understanding of the rich and diverse but lesser-known cultures and traditions of the Northeastern states.

  • Provides a forum for students to explore and express themselves. 

Activities: Interactive session with government servant from Manipur, fashion show, participation in com-space, annual day performance.

Voices (The Mental Health Society)

HDCS Department initiative

Voices is the mental health society that promotes and support a culture of holistic wellbeing by focusing on sound mental health.

Objectives:

  • Promote Awareness about Mental Health and its importance

  • Encourage conversations and sharing of feelings and emotion

  • Build the concept of Peer Mentorship 

  • Navigating students towards positive self-talk

  • Supporting students through Counselling and Therapy

Activities: Workshops on creating boundaries, positive body image, understanding people with disability, Participation in seminars and competitions on PTSD, stress management, Community engagement through reels, Celebrating world mental health day.

URJA- Igniting Minds

HDCS Department initiative

Urja is the society initiated by HDCS department for creating deeper understanding of human development and foster social responsibility

Objectives:

  • To Provide a Platform to engage in Multidisciplinary and Multicultural Exploration

  • To create a deeper understanding of Human Development through community outreach and empower individuals, families and communities.

  • To develop essential life skills and foster social responsibility

Activities: Photograpy and story telling competitions on childhood, Workshops on lived experiences of transgenders, understanding sexuality, life skills and career counselling.

Microcosms (The Microbiology Society)

Initiated by Department of Microbiology

Objectives

  • To promote interest and knowledge in microbiology among students and the wider community.

  • To develop leadership and professional skills among members through opportunities for committee involvement and event planning.

  • To provide a platform for students to share research, ideas, and experiences related to microbiology.

Activities: Organising conferences, symposium, and seminars on topics relevant to microbiology, lab visits, and celebration of days of National and international days.

Eco-Club ‘Prakritik’

The eco-club of college empower the students to participate and take up meaningful environment-related activities or projects for a sustainable future

Objectives:

  • Sensitize students to the importance of sustainable utilisation of natural resources.

  • Promote the management of natural resources for long-term sustainability.

  • Create awareness about the impact of human activities on the environment.

  • Encourage proactive participation in environmental protection and conservation efforts.

  • Develop students' understanding of ecological balance and biodiversity.

  • Support initiatives that aim at reducing environmental degradation.

Activities:  Celebrating world environment day, wet land day, world wild life day, field visits to Okhala bird sanctuary, Workshop on making recycled paper, training on sustainable waste management practices, Forest landscape sketches 

Anveshika (The Science Society)

Initaited by Departement of Sciences 

Objectives

  • To provide a platform for the Holistic growth of the students by conditioning them to observe, to think, to enquire, and to learn

  • To transform the energetic youth into nurtured human resources

  • To enhance the creative thinking, logical reasoning, and scientific temper of inquisitive learners

Activities: Celebration of National Science day, Workshop of green chemistry, poster and logo making competition, Workshop on genesis of green products

Objectives 

  • To inculcate scientific temper and logical thinking in students

  • To learn about latest developments in research and technology in biochemistry, bioinformatics and related fields

Maitri: Menstrual Health Society

Initiated by Department of Development Communication, Extension and Journalism

Objectives

  • To address the taboos and stigma associated with mensuration

  • To educate the students about various alternatives of sustainable menstrual hygiene methods. 

  • To spread awareness among students about the safe disposal of sanitary napkins in an environment-friendly manner.

  • To create understanding among the students about problems related to reproductive health such as PCOD and PCOS.

  • To enable the students to overcome their insecurities about their bodies and to help them develop self-confidence and self-love.

Activities: News Paper donation drive, Reel making competition, workshop on menstrual hygiene, Poster making competition, film screening, visit to goonj, celebration of foundation day with different activities

Rotaract Club of Activa Delhi, Institute of Home Economics

Iridescence – The fine arts and photography society 

Initiated by students union

Objectives:

  • Promote Artistic Expression 

  • Competitions and Events.

  • Support Social and Cultural Causes through arts 

  • Provide a supportive environment for budding artists and photographers to develop their portfolios.

  • Recognize and celebrate the achievements of members through awards and accolades.

  • Provide opportunities for members to develop their skills 

  • To facilitate collaborations with other art and photography societies, professional artists, and photographers, thereby providing networking opportunities and broader perspectives to the members.

Activities : Organizing competitions such as diya decoration, rangoli, making, face painting, photography, slogan writing and caricature making

The Furbabies Initiative 

The Furbabies Initiative is a formally established animal welfare campaign conceived by Ananya Kant, a student at the Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi. The initiative operates under the guidance and mentorship of Ms. Neeti Vaid, faculty at the institute.

Objectives

  • Raise Awareness

  • Promote Responsible Pet Ownership: 

  • Providing Balanced Diets

Activities: Installing feeding bowls of nutritious food and mattresses, vaccination and medical help, day out in community and fund raising for animal welfare.

Muzahira: The Literary and Debating Society


Initaited by students union

The literary and debating society is family of literature enthusiasts who are there to express and impress.

Objectives

  • Enhancement of Literary Skills:  Conduct workshops and interactive sessions to help students enhance their literary skills.

  • Platform to Express: Equip students with a platform to showcase their skills and provide them exposure in the literary circuit.

Activities: Quiz competition, turncoat debate, workshop to develop literary skills, creative writing competition, book club for students, story telling and fanfic competition, couplet writing competition 

Eco – guardian  ( The sustainability club)

Initiated by Centre for Sustainability, Department of Resource Management and Design ApplicationManagement and Design Application

Objectives :

  • Identify the challenges to sustainability and conduct research to solve these problems.

  • Promote educational programmes on sustainability.

  • Develop outreach programmes & engage communities to conduct awareness campaigns and trainings on sustainable lifestyle.

  • Implement practical solutions to sustainability on campus and in the neighbourhood.

  • Promote networking and collaborations amongst research institutes, industry, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

Activities: Recognising active student volunteers and providing them key positions in club, Rhyme Recitation competition on Planet vs Plastic, Session on Living with Air Pollution, Session on Plastic waste.

Navrang ( The theatre society) 

Navrang is the theatre and street play society that engages with community on various social issue through theatre.

Objectives:

  • Identify and horn creativity and expression through theatre

  • Build confidence to express and raise voice.

  • Engage with community through theatre and street plays.

  • Participate in inter and intra college competitions 

Activities: Participates in inter and intra college competitions, participate in cultural fest, perform the theatrical act ‘ Bali aur Shambhu’ at LTG auditorium.

PR and Publicity Society

Objectives:

  • Publicize and connect IHE digitally through social media.

  • Facilitate easier access to information for students.

  • Promote social values, such as feminism, through events (e.g., Barbie Day).

  • Organize and publicize events like the annual cultural fest.

  • Secure sponsorships for events.

Activities : Celebrate Barbie Day and Bollywood day, reel making and poster making competitions, sponsorships for annual cultural fest, creating poster and social media memes for events
