The Department of Resource Management is one of the most, creative and resourceful
departments. It imparts to the students new ideas, knowledge and vision of latest developments
in the field of management. They acquire relevant skills for managing different types of
resources – human, economic and environmental. The academic program intends to impart
various skills and necessary theoretical background for subjects in diverse fields. Students are
provided with competence and skills in planning spaces (both interior and exterior) with
ergonomic consideration. It aims to develop entrepreneurial management skills in terms of self
employment and micro-enterprise management which further enables the students to develop
project proposals. Students are exposed to event design so that they can use their managerial
skills to become ‘Event Management Experts’. Consumerism is another major area of interest for
students.
The department has well equipped laboratories. An overhead projector and computers are also
available for the use of both faculty and students. The department boasts of a design lab, where
many creative and meaningful experiments are performed.
The department has come a long way since 1961. Along with regular courses, short term courses
were also started in the year 2006. Event Management was the first short term course and it was
conducted successfully for three years from 2006-2009. The course in AUTO-CAD and Interior
Design was started in the year 2008. The course in Human Resource Management was started in
the year 2009. Both the courses are still running successfully in the current year. Many students
both from within the college and outside have benefited from the course.
This course offers numerous job opportunities. Students can pursue Master’s Degree in Resource
Management and Design Application, Human Resource Management, Business Management,
social work and seek jobs in government, non-government and international organizations.
Students can also pursue diploma courses in Interior Decoration, Entrepreneurship Development
and seek employment or become entrepreneurs. Event Management is another option available
to the students. Those desirous of teaching can pursue B.Ed. Over a period of many years the
department has collaborated with the Department of design NID (Delhi Chapter), NIFT,
practicing architects and interior designers, hospitality and event industry, consumer forum,
National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs of
India (CWEI), ISHRAE, GreenPeace India, Society for Indoor Environment, Indian Pollution
Control Association.

India Foundation, Development Alternatives, Safe express, Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs
of India (CWEI), IIPA, TERI, AQMS, NIFT, Asian Paints, Livspace, National Consumer
Helpline, Advertising consultancies, Design houses and Event Management companies, etc.
