The Institute of Home Economics has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment and is pro-actively committed to providing a safe and conducive academic environment to its students and employees. The college has been conducting workshops on various gender related issues for students in collaboration with NGOs such as Breakthrough. In accordance with Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 as well as UGC Regulations, 2015 pertaining to higher educational institutions, the college has a duly constituted, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of the ICC as laid down in the UGC regulations, the committee has the following broad objectives:
To sensitize students to various gender related issues.
To spread awareness about sexual harassment at work place as well as the functioning of the ICC.
To deal with the complaints relating to Sexual harassment at work place from students or employees.
Posters have been displayed at various places in the college telling the students about ICC as well as the process of filing a complaint. Any female aggrieved in this matter may either approach the Presiding Officer of the ICC or the members to file a complaint against sexual harassment.
